Lisa McLendon

President, ACES Education Fund and Coordinator, Bremner Editing Center, University of Kansas School of Journalism and Mass Communications

Lisa McLendon joined KU as the coordinator of the Bremner Editing Center in August 2012. She spent seven years as the deputy news desk chief at the Wichita Eagle, where she also wrote book reviews and coordinated the Grammar Monkeys blog and Twitter account. She launched her journalism career on the copy desk at the Denton (Texas) Record-Chronicle after earning a doctorate in Slavic Linguistics from the University of Texas. In addition to KU, she has taught at the University of North Texas, Friends University in Wichita, and Wichita State University. Lisa has been a member of ACES since 2000, serving on the board from 2007-2014 and now is president of the ACES Education Fund. She has presented numerous conference sessions, webinars and workshops on language, grammar and editing, and is the author of “The Perfect English Grammar Workbook.”
